Tucked along Sultanah Bahiyah Highway in a bustling commercial spot of Alor Setar, this casual chicken rice joint draws a steady crowd, especially around lunch and dinner hours. The focus here is straightforward: fragrant rice cooked in chicken stock paired with roasted chicken, served simply with chili sauce, soy sauce, and fresh slices of cucumber and tomato. While there’s a regular version and a “special” option with extra chicken and gravy for those a bit hungrier, the meals come with a clear, comforting homestyle feel.
The setting is unpretentious, with both indoor and outdoor seating available, making it welcoming for solo diners, groups, and families. The atmosphere tends to be lively yet efficient — you order at the counter and then collect your food when ready. It’s a busy spot, so reservations for lunch or dinner can help avoid waits, though many enjoy the steady hum of activity as part of the experience.
Visitors often appreciate the combination of reasonably priced food and quick service in a space that also welcomes takeaway and delivery. The presence of wheelchair-accessible seating and entrances ensures a comfortable visit for everyone. Alongside the chicken rice, a good selection of tea and supportive offerings like coffee and small plates keep the menu grounded in local dining habits.
This place appeals to a diverse mix — from university students nearby grabbing a quick bite, to tourists eager to get a taste of Kedah-style chicken rice, and locals who appreciate a casual, no-fuss meal. Whether stopping by for brunch, late-night food, or a relaxed dinner, it offers a sincere snapshot of everyday flavors in the neighborhood.

5 My sister introduced this fantastic chicken rice restaurant. The place was quite busy when we got there, it must be excellent! To enjoy their chicken rice, I had to stay in line to place the order. There’s a regular and special chicken rice to choose from, and I ordered the special one for me. The difference between regular and special is the size of the chicken and the amount of gravy. On my first bite, I flipped because it was so delicious! I think we have a winner here! Best chicken rice in this town. We also ordered satay from next door cafe. Wow! Another excellent dish! Super authentic Malay-style satay with peanut sauce that I can’t get in NY! We loved this place. The women behind the counter who prepared the chicken rice were lovely, helpful, and hardworking. Recommended!
5 Nice sauce...love it...Satay next door oso good...worth come to tryout...
5 This spot truly stands out as a fantastic Nasi Ayam restaurant in Alor Setar. It operates on a self-service basis: you place your order at the counter, pay and collect your food, which isn't exactly my preference. Regardless, the Nasi Ayam is really good, and the prices are quite reasonable.
5 TAT Nasi Ayam was extremely good Fast and furious service awesome Come here let taste of TAT Nasi Ayam
4 The Nasi Ayam (Chicken Rice) was very nice. The chicken and the sauce paired perfectly. Worth the try. But it's a little sweet I suppose, need to improve on that a little. We also ordered their Bihun Sup, it was very delicious. My mom said that it is very original as a Kedah Bihun Sup. Overall a nice experience. Maybe need to improve a little on the cleanliness of the restaurant.
4 I never expect the chicken is served like this with sweet and sour sauce because this is differ from the common malay style nasi ayam... Overall the taste of rice and sauce plain but the chicken is quite nice! Yong Tau Foo also not bad..the sauce is acceptable nice! For More Food Review, Follow Instagram : kvvk_food #假掰の美食家
